What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers conceal dental imperfections like chips, cracks, gaps, stains, and stubby teeth with durable and beautifully lifelike restorations. A veneer consists of a thin layer of ceramic designed to be cemented upon the teeth being treated, and they are crafted from ceramic materials that mimic the ideal appearance of natural enamel. They can completely transform a smile in as few as two appointments, and they can last for fifteen years or more before needing replacement if they receive excellent care.

The Process of Getting Veneers

The first step to receiving veneers is a consultation with Dr. More. During this meeting, our dentist will carefully evaluate your oral health to determine if you can safely undergo the treatment. If he finds oral infections such as tooth decay or gum disease, he will have to resolve these issues with restorative or periodontal treatments before he can place veneers.

Once you are approved for the treatment, you will be scheduled for your first appointment. This will involve Dr. More administering a local anesthetic to ensure your comfort before removing a small amount of enamel and taking impressions of the treated teeth. You’ll then receive temporary veneers, and your bite impressions will be sent to a trusted dental lab where a skilled technician will craft your final restorations. About two weeks later, you’ll come back for a second appointment, during which Dr. More will remove your temporary appliances, cement your final veneers in place, make any final adjustments, and congratulate you for achieving a gorgeous new grin.
